My Focus Word for 2024 Is....

Every year, I try to spend as much time as I can between Christmas and New Year’s Eve visualizing the upcoming year. I am not a resolution maker, but I do try to see what my objectives and goals for the coming year look like in my mind’s eye. How I will accomplish these goals; what the results will look like; what are all the senses surrounding the process, results, and celebration of the accomplishments are all images I try to imagine.

From these mental musings, I try to formulate a keyword or phrase that will help me keep these images top of mind. Sometimes the word encapsulates the feelings around the process or the results. This new year’s word is a culmination of both. It is a key ingredient in the work to be done and it also represents an important byproduct of the results.

My keyword for 2024 is COLLABORATION!

As I imagined how I would live out the achievement of my goals, I kept envisioning the people that I would be working with to help realize them. The collaborations I saw were old and new clients, strategic partners of several years, and new strategic partners that I haven’t even met yet. And as I mentally celebrated these results, the friends “at the party” were some of these same collaborators. One unexpected outcome of my career collaborating with clients and partners has been the wonderful friendships that have resulted.

These collaborations range the gamut from helping church leaders create a strategy to make more disciples in 2024 to meeting new sources that will introduce ChurchCMO to churches outside our current sphere of influence. I visualized teaching disciple making strategy with partners from other backgrounds and speaking to new audiences about how to be proactive disciple makers.

But these collaborations don’t just include my work at ChurchCMO. I also envisioned collaborating with my wife to live healthy and maybe travel more. I see working with my adult kids to help them continue to grow and thrive (and celebrate their mother!). I hope to see a lot of “collaborating” with my friends at the golf course in 2024! 😉

I encourage you to take a few minutes and visualize how your new year will look, smell, and feel. If you are looking for a collaborating partner to help you make more disciples this year, give me a call. I would love to have a chat and figure out your best strategy to live into your mission and goals.

Happy New Year, make it the best year yet!
